Project Manager – Job Description Position Summary The Interfaces
and Conversions Manager is responsible for leading the design,
development, implementation, and ongoing support of all system
interfaces and data conversion efforts across the organization’s
healthcare applications, including the Epic EHR and related
systems. This role oversees teams that build, monitor, and maintain
interfaces (HL7, FHIR, API integrations) as well as teams
responsible for extracting, transforming, validating, and loading
data during new implementations, upgrades, and migrations. The
Manager serves as a key partner to IT leadership, Epic application
teams, operational stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure
seamless data exchange, system interoperability, and accurate,
high?quality data migration. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team
Management Lead and manage teams responsible for interfaces,
integration engine development, and data conversion activities.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for
interface analysts, conversion specialists, and integration
engineers. Manage work assignments, staffing, prioritization,
performance reviews, and resource planning. Establish a culture of
accountability, collaboration, innovation, and quality. Interface
Design, Build & Support Oversee the design, development,
implementation, and maintenance of interfaces using technologies
such as HL7, FHIR, APIs, web services, flat file exchanges, and
Epic Interconnect. Ensure proper configuration and optimization of
interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth, Ensemble, or
Bridges for Epic). Ensure interface monitoring, alerting, and
performance management processes are in place. Manage resolution of
interface issues, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid restoration
of service. Coordinate with vendors and other health systems to
support integration and interoperability needs. Data Conversions &
Migration Lead data conversion strategy, planning, execution, and
validation for Epic and other systems. Oversee extraction, mapping,
transformation, loading, and reconciliation of data from legacy
systems. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and regulatory
compliance throughout all conversion activities. Partner with Epic
application teams to establish data requirements, validation rules,
and acceptance criteria. Lead conversion mock cycles, dress
rehearsals, and go?live cutover activities. Collaboration &
Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with Epic application analysts,
IT infrastructure, security, reporting teams, and
clinical/operational leaders to ensure alignment of technical
solutions with organizational needs. Serve as the primary point of
escalation for interface and conversion issues. Communicate
timelines, risks, impacts, and status updates to leadership and
operational stakeholders. Participate in integration governance,
change control, and prioritization meetings. Compliance, Security &
Standards Ensure all interfaces and data migrations meet HIPAA,
privacy, security, and compliance standards. Maintain technical
documentation for interface specifications, conversion mappings,
workflows, and processes. Ensure audit readiness and proper access
controls for data integrations. Project Management & Optimization
Lead interface and conversion components of major projects such as
Epic implementations, system upgrades, new technology integrations,
and acquisition onboarding. Drive optimization of existing
integrations to improve performance, reduce errors, and streamline
workflows. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for
interface development and conversion processes. Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer
science, healthcare informatics, or related field (or equivalent
experience). 5 years of experience in interface development, data
conversions, integration engineering, or related healthcare IT
fields. 2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or team management
role. Strong knowledge of HL7, FHIR, APIs, data mapping, and
integration engines. Experience working with EHR systems (Epic
preferred). Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication
skills. Preferred Epic Bridges certification or related
interoperability certifications. Experience with Epic data
conversions (Chronicles, Clarity, Caboodle). Familiarity with
healthcare data standards, workflows, and regulatory requirements.
Experience with ETL tools, SQL, and enterprise data warehousing.
Knowledge of interface engines such as Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Mirth,
Ensemble, Corepoint, etc. Competencies Strong leadership and

critical?thinking abilities. Excellent organizational and time
management skills. Ability to work collaboratively across IT and
operational teams. High attention to detail and commitment to data
accuracy. Strong communication skills for both technical and
non?technical audiences. Work Environment Standard office
environment with hybrid/on?site options depending on organizational
policy. Occasional after?hours or on?call work required for
upgrades, cutovers, and interface/conversion issues. Frequent
collaboration with clinical, operational, and technical teams.
