Job Description:
Description:The Patient Account Services Representative is
responsible for conducting collections on outstanding claims,
gathering additional information requested, negotiating claim
payments with patients and basic collections functions. Meets
department targets regarding productivity and claim payment and
follows up as necessary. PAS Representatives at Claimpay, Inc. are
a specific subset of collectors and specialize in collecting on
patient balance responsibilities. PAS Representatives are
responsible for all functions related to the collection on patient
balance claims. Duties are generally assigned on a primary basis,
but all personnel are cross-trained and may perform functions in
the various business segments.Primary ResponsibilitiesResponds to
customer inquiries regarding account status.Researches any overdue
account balance that is fully or partially unpaid and follows up by
mail and/or phone patients on delinquent payments.Research
customer's accounts thoroughly and documents appropriately.Document
all calls timely and accurately in the patients' account in the
billing system to achieve timely payments.Perform collections
follow-ups for payments until resolution is met. Assist with other
billing/collection duties, as needed.Performs claim follow-up with
patients on balances due on claims with no response to obtain a
payment plan or resolution. Utilize portals to obtain missing
information to assist with the resolution of claims. Review
incoming correspondence.Brings recurring issues to the attention of
the department supervisor.Assist in gathering missing or additional
supporting documentation necessary to reach resolution.Participates
in continuous quality improvement efforts, regularly establishes
goals with supervisors, and tracks progress.Pursues patient for
payment obligations when insurance defaults as permitted by law or
contractual relationships.Maintain confidentiality of
PHI.Requirements:QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent;
Associates Degree preferred.Patience, perseverance and well-spoken
but firm demeanor. Ability to work on a phone line all day.
Attention to detail and have the ability to prioritize
independently.The ability to multi-task and in a busy office
environment.Proficient customer service skills.Intermediate
knowledge of MS Office.Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of
customers or employees of an organization.Ability to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several
