SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to administer and
score of a wide range of specialized individually-administered
neuropsychological and psychological tests to assist clinicians to
determine neurobehavioral and psychiatric status. The position is
responsible for the accuracy and validity of all obtained test

capability.Explain the procedures and answers any questions before
testing begins.Provide patients and/or significant others with a
rationale for specific testing procedures.Check the medical record
regarding any special precautions that are to be taken due to the
patient's physical or medical condition.Assess needs commonly
related to physical limitations, neurological and psychiatric
conditions, and age-associated illnesses.Attend to emergency
situations by performing initial intervention when necessary and
making immediate referrals.Contact professional staff, immediately
upon identifying emergency situations.Control the testing
environment and secures the test results.Administer all tests in
adherence to test procedures and standardized
administration.Provide documentation in accordance with adopted
policy of the Neuropsychology Department and Mental Health Service
for purposes of communication of progress in completion of
consultation requests or for purposes of communicating pertinent

qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by
the closing date of this announcement, 06/30/2022. Time-In-Grade
Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have
held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet
time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this
announcement. For a GS 7 position you must have served 52 weeks at
the GS 6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have
been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your
time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application

Requirements:Applicants who meet the Individual Occupational
Requirements described below are fully qualified for the specified
entry grade and must also meet the specialized experience and/or
education requirements. Specialized Experience (for positions at GS
4 and above): Experience that involved the observation of and
assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior,
capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or,
under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been
gained in connection with a program of research or direct services
in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the
principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist
professional psychologist. In addition to meeting the above
Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) AND Time-In-Grade,
applicants must also meet the experience and/or directly related
education relevant to this position. You may qualify based on your
experience and/or education as described below: Specialized
Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience
equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 6 in the normal line
of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of
specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited
to:Perform tasks that require a practical understanding of some of
the general principles, theories, methods and techniques of
psychology in order to carry out duties which are performed under
the supervision of a professional psychologist. Schedule, receive,
and prepare patients for psychological and neuropsychological
assessment. Confers with the responsible psychologist to determine
what assessment instruments and computerized procedures are
appropriate. Administer instruments or therapy procedure
individually or in a group setting and gives the scored tests or
treatment notes with the relevant behavioral observations to the
responsible psychologist. Complete structured diagnostic and
clinical assessments for patients and potential research
participants based on understanding of psychiatric diagnostic
categories. Assess for safety of patient with timely and
appropriate hand-off to licensed independent providers, including
providing an entry level suicide risk assessment. OR,Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To
qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one
full year of graduate education (transcripts required). OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience
to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of
specialized experience and graduate education that totals at least

Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience,
including volunteer work done through National Service programs

student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies,
knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and
experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will
receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer
experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40
hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on
the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
