The Supervisor - Athletic Trainer is responsible for general oversight and daily operational management of the assigned physician clinical team within the Physician Enterprise. This position works with practice leader to ensure needs are met with high quality of execution in relation to the care of the patients, ensures guidelines and policies are within best practices and standards of care. This position provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This role manages individualized, goal-directed care through use of the clinical process in accordance with departmental practice policies and procedures. This position practices by performing acts which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon applied principles of psychological, physical, and social sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily coverage and operational needs of the physician clinic and associated programs, as applicable.
  • Serves to assist with general operational and administrative needs of the department and staff.
  • Fosters service and growth in manner consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department.
  • Coordinates and fosters departmental guidelines, protocols, and policy in keeping with best practices and standards of care.
  • Provides care to patients. Observes, assesses, intervenes and evaluates care of the patient.
  • Prepares patient for provider; maintains supplies, rooms, and medications; performs and tracks tests and results; assists providers and nurses; performs chart documentation, review, and maintenance; performs front office duties when required and completes miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Maintains patient flow in the clinical areas. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient. Assists physician with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments when appropriate. Schedules outpatient diagnostic procedures.
  • Coordinates all prescribed diagnostic testing of patients, as applicable based on workflow.
  • Documents all patient assessments and notifies physician or supervisor of significant changes in condition, reaction to medications or treatments, and untoward incidents.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
  • Is responsible for the department's operational excellence and ensures that the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Supervise clinical team members.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training or Master's Degree Athletic Training Required
    • 2 years Experience in athletic training field and in event planning/management. Required
    • Athletic Trainer Licensed State of Florida and/or Alabama (if they work in Alabama) Upon Hire Required
    • Certified Athletic Trainer (AT_BOC) Upon Hire Required
    • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
    • Knowledge of operations and physician clinic process and protocols.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology in reference to physician practice and excellent communication skills and customer service.
    • Knowledge of industry best practices and guidelines.
    • Care and prevention of athletic injuries.
    • Comfort in evaluation skills and setting up plan of care.
    • Problem solving and decision capabilities.
