Registered NurseOverview
The Pre/Post Registered Nurse role manages individualized,
goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and
the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental
and hospital policies and procedures. The RN must have high level
critical thinking skills; the ability to prioritize multiple tasks,
and communicate effectively at all levels of communication. She/He
utilizes pre and post-surgical nursing knowledge to prepare the
patient for the next level of care. The RN functioning in a Pre Op
or Post Op role provides care and education for the patient based
on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. She/He is
responsible for the assessment, care coordination, and care plan
implementation . The Pre Op RN collects data on patient
medical/surgical history, medication history, and current
prescribed treatment. . During normal business hours, the Pre Op
Registered Nurse will prepare patients both inpatient and
outpatients having surgery, TEE/Cardioversions, Electrophysiology
procedures, Pain Management procedures, and GE procedures. The Post
Op Registered Nurse will recover Phase II Surgical,
TEE/Cardioversion, Electrophysiology, Pain Management, and various
Radiology procedures. The Pre/Post RN must be credentialed to
administer Moderate sedation during aforementioned procedures under
the direction of the physician. The person in this position works
under general supervision of the Charge Nurse and Clinical Manager,
is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours
per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to
remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe
weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications
* Associate of Nursing Degree or nursing diploma
* Two (2) years' experience in acute care hospital nursing
required
* Current Licensure in the State of Florida. BLS through American
Heart Association
* ACLS is required within 90 days of employment/transfer.
* Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and
skills. Demonstrated competence in regulatory agency education
classes and in relevant area of nursing practice. Critical thinking
skills with the ability to adapt to department workload. Ability to
prioritize multiple tasks.
