Collins Aerospace is looking for a Director of Operations to oversee all aspects of Operations for the Boeing, Embraer, and Military business portfolios. You will also oversee manufacturing, production master scheduling, manufacturing engineering, facilities engineering, quality assurance, materials management, and EH&S. You will interact with both internal and external customers at a high frequency and at multiple levels within the organization. You will report to the Vice President, Boeing and Military Programs.

The position location can be in Chula Vista CA, Riverside CA or Foley AL.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost and organizational development
  • Proactively reduces EH&S risks and promotes safe behaviors in the workplace
  • Manages capacity, demand, & resource plans to ensure rate readiness
  • Supports the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process to meet OTD and financial targets
  • Ensures successful implementation of new program development activities
  • Develops maturity of business intelligence tools in support of efficient material flow in the value stream
  • Integrates tactical & strategic supply chain activities to manage risk and leverage spend
  • Manages objectives for operating budgets, capital plans and cost savings targets
  • Achieves inventory turns improvements and manages manufacturing variances
  • Identifies and executes mfg. technologies & world class mfg. initiatives aligned with the 5-yr strategic plan
  • Drives employee engagement, positive culture, and execute strategic workforce planning initiatives
  • Standardizes best practices across operations and the overall organization
  • Executes a robust talent management and succession planning process
  • Provides the necessary coordination of activities with internal and external suppliers and customers
    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and 14 years prior relevant experience OR
    • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years' experience
    • Manufacturing Operations experience
    • Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities
    • Able to communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
    • Ability to recruit, develop and engage a team to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth
    • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate, influence and lead across value streams, functions sites
    • Experience building effective teams
    • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools
    • Able to travel up to 30% domestically, to include limited international travel (amount of travel requirement may be higher, depending on other locations)
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
      Preferred Qualifications

      • Military experience
      • Master's degree in science or business
      • Chemical processing, machining, metal fabrication or composites manufacturing experience
      • Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) experience
      • Demonstrated experience implementing world class manufacturing techniques
      • Certified in Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma
      • Demonstrated ability to establish and mature a Continuous Improvement culture
      • Experience with single piece flow in a mixed model production environment
      • Demonstrated experience with new program introductions
