-- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reads blueprints and basic structural drawings and builds structures accordingly; estimates and orders materials for assigned projects; works independently on job sites; works with all types and ranges of commercial acoustical ceiling installations and operation of laser equipment for aligning grid systems; works to achieve mastery understanding of installing acoustical ceiling grid and tile; coordinates with department head and construction supervisors regarding project expectations and requirements; reads blueprints for instruction to lower-level employees in a team environment; instructs and inspects the level of acoustical grid in one continuous smooth plane; runs two string lines in opposite directions to ensure square of acoustical grid; identifies and resolves conflicts on site-specific conditions prior to confrontations in plan instruction; installs specialty areas of focus including linear diffusers/fixtures and wrap-around grid; patches/repairs existing acoustical grid/tile system into like-new appearance; performs rough and finish carpentry including erection of all types of walls, ceilings, and roofs built from wood, metal or vinyl materials using hand and power tools; hangs and finishes dry wall, repairs dry wall and plaster; paints walls, doors, and frames; responsible for demolition of wood, metal, brick, block, plaster, drywall, ceramic tile, non-asbestos flooring, vinyl flooring, carpet, concrete, insulation, etc., and disposes into designated roll-off dumpster; uses and maintains power tools including drill, screw guns, sawsall, circular saw, radial arm saw, table saw, planer, sanders, roto hammer drill, bandsaw, tamp, jack hammer, scrapers, air compressor, nail gun, stapler, jigsaw and router; supervises other staff and oversees less experienced installer/laborers, semi-skilled and unskilled workers and subcontractors; ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; brings problems to the attention of supervisors; performs clean-up on construction sites to include sweeping, mopping, raking, power-washing, shoveling, and scraping as needed; may be required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required. -- -- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent, three years experience installing acoustical ceiling grid systems and possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. -- WORKING DAYS AND HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. EO/AA Employer - minorities/females/veterans/disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity---- AL.com .Category: Engineering, Keywords: Acoustical Consultant
