Ideal Background
Education


  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Industrial Engineer or other Engineering related degree with requisite experience in Fixed Equipment


    Experience and Skills

    • 5+ years' engineering experience in the chemical industry or refining environment. Polymer manufacturing or Powerhouse/Power Boiler experience is a plus.
    • Sound knowledge of fixed equipment as well as a knowledge of inspection activities/techniques.
    • Knowledge of the general operation and function of fixed equipment in chemical or refining industry.
    • General knowledge of materials, welding, and inspection practices.
    • Knowledge of risk-based inspection software programs (i.e., PCMS) and best practices.
    • Understanding of ASME PCC-1 and PCC-2 and its applicability to fixed equipment repairs.
    • Experience with COMPRESS or CAESAR II is a plus
    • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
    • SAP knowledge is a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).


      Physical Requirements

      • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
      • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
      • Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
      • Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
      • Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
      • Confined space entry may be required.


        What You'll Be Doing
        Job Summary: This individual will be responsible for leading area technical support within the Mechanical Integrity Program. Provide expertise for the design, re-rating, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of the plant's fixed equipment within the operating units. Provide a proactive approach to fixed equipment improvement efforts.

        Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

        • Provide fixed equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.) and piping technical support for multiple areas within the plant.
        • Support implementation of an inspection and mechanical integrity program across multiple areas within the plant.
        • Drive/Improve quality associated with flanged and welded joint integrity.
        • Assist/Lead root cause analysis of fixed equipment failures.
        • Serve as SME for PHA's
        • Perform reviews and approvals for Management of Change (MOC), as they relate to fixed equipment modifications.
        • Identify and leverage industry codes(ASME B31.3, API 510, etc.) and best practices
        • Support of relief device inspection and maintenance.
        • Inspect and verify work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
        • Analysis of inspection data and perform fitness-for-service evaluations as needed.
